I. INTRODUCTION

This is a patent dispute involving cardiovascular stents. Boston Scientific Corporation and Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc. (collectively, “BSC”) filed this patent infringement action in the United States District Court for the District of Minneso*262ta against Cordis Corporation (“Cordis”) on December 4, 2009, alleging infringement of claim 36 of U.S. Patent No. 5,922,-021 (“the '021 patent”).
