The appellant was tried by general-court martial, military judge sitting alone, on 10 August 1992. In accordance with his pleas, he was convicted of unauthorized absence and wrongful distribution of methamphetamine in violation of Articles 86 and 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), 10 U.S.C. §§ 886, 912a.
