The plaintiff in error, Jemima Good-son, was indicted, arraigned, tried, convicted, and sentenced for the crime of adultery, committed within the Osage Indian reservation, at the November, 1897, term of the district court held at Pawhuska, in and for the Osage and Kansas Indian reservations, and sitting with, and exercising the powers and jurisdiction of, a circuit and district court of the United States. Prior to -the commencement of said term the presiding judge of that court issued an order to the clerk of the district court authorizing him to issue…
