These are four practically identical applications by the public service commission for the first district, under section 57 of the Public Service Commissions Law, for writs of mandamus against the several respondents to enforce an order of the commission made February 8, 1917, requiring the *256respondents collectively to procure and place in operation on surface traction lines in Brooklyn 250 cars.
