This is a statutory' proceeding, brought in this court by the public service commission for the first district under the provisions of section 74 of the Public Service Commissions Law for an alleged or threatened violation of law on the part of the Brooklyn Borough Gas Company. It was begun by an order of this court granted by me and dated on August 5, 1918, requiring the company to answer the petition on August sixth, and providing for a hearing upon the petition on August seventh, at Special Term, Part III, of this court.
