This is an action by plaintiff and appellant to recover damages for personal injuries suffered in a collision of his car with a train operated by defendant and respondent Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company (hereinafter referred to as Santa Fe), occurring where the main line of the Santa Fe between Fresno and Bakersfield crosses a secondary highway just west of Selma, which highway is maintained by defendant and appellant county of Fresno (hereinafter referred to as the County).
