On March 4, 1986, defendant pleaded guilty before the circuit court of Macoupin County to a charge of aggravated battery. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 12 — 4(a).) On the same date, defendant was sentenced to 30 months’ probation.

Subsequently, defendant was found guilty in a jury trial, involving an unrelated incident, of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual abuse. (Ill. Rev.
