OPINION OF THE COURT

Quinn, Judge:

Remarks by the military judge during sentence proceedings are challenged on this appeal as bringing about deprivation of effective assistance of counsel as to the sentence.

After a 39(a) session with the judge of a general court-martial to which two charges involving a controlled substance had been referred to trial, the accused entered into an agreement with the convening authority to plead guilty. The convening authority agreed that as to the sentence imposed by the court-martial, he would approve no punishment in excess of a bad-conduct discharge…
