Jean Knafel sued Pepsi-Cola Bottlers of Akron, Inc. (Pepsi), General Cinema Corporation (GCC), Stanley Levin, and James Davis for a discriminatory discharge, in violation of 42 U.S.C. § 2000e (Title VII). Knafel claimed that her employer had fired her in retaliation for her having filed a civil rights claim (the “EEOC charge”) against the employer. Knafel further alleged a violation of Ohio Revised Code § 4123.90, claiming that she was discharged in retaliation for her having filed workers’ compensation claims.
