I. INTRODUCTION

This case traces its ultimate origins to the inauspicious beginnings of George Washington’s military command. Washington, then a twenty-two year old Lieutenant Colonel, led almost four hundred Colonials and British regulars in the Battle of the Great Meadows on July 3,1754.
