In this case we address three separate but related appeals. First, the defendant appeals from the denial of his motion to vacate illegal sentences. Mass. R. Grim. P. 30 (a), 378 Mass. 900 (1979). Second, the Commonwealth appeals an order of the trial judge revising, pursuant to Mass. R. Grim. P. 29 (a), 378 Mass. 899 (1979), certain sentences to be served by the defendant.
