The defendant contends that he was deprived of the right to confront a witness against him when the prosecutor elicited testimony from a police officer that the officer interviewed a *785nontestifying witness regarding whether she had been with the defendant on the date of the crime. This contention is without merit, since the Supreme Court did not permit any hearsay testimony regarding the statements of the nontestifying witness to the police officer and there was no danger that the jury could infer that the nontestifying witness possessed information which could implicate the defendant (see…
