This is an action of debt brought by the Bank of the Old Dominion against James H. McVeigh and Edgar McVeigh, late copartners trading under the firm name of J. H. McVeigh & Son, and William 1ST. McBeigh, as drawers and endorser of *787seven protested negotiable notes, amounting together to the principal sum of sixteen thousand five hundred dollars. The action was brought on the 18th day of August 1870, in the Corporation court of the city of Alexandria. Process was executed and rules taken regularly, against the defendants James H.
