James Koste appeals from a final judgment entered in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri denying his petition for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254. See Koste v. Dormire, No. 4:98CV1709 (E.D.Mo. Sept. 25, 2000) (memorandum and order) (hereinafter “slip op”).
