A six-person jury in the District Court returned a verdict for the plaintiff, Roxanna Figuereo, in the amount of $5,000 in this action for personal injuries she sustained in an automobile accident with the defendant, Neila Valverde.1 At the time of the accident both the plaintiff and defendant were *77insured under standard Massachusetts automobile liability policies that included personal injury protection (PDP) benefits.
