I. BACKGROUND
Except as noted, the following facts are undisputed in the record. On March 11, 1991, a collision occurred between a van driven by an employee of Sacred Heart Hospital of Pensacola, Florida (“Sacred Heart”) and a log truck. The impact of the collision caused the log truck to collide with a vehicle driven by William Stone. During the collision, a number of logs fell from the truck onto Stone’s vehicle.
