In the month of October, in the year 1834, a number of individuals in the Parish of Natchitoches, agreed “to constitute themselves into a joint stock company, for the purpose of purchasing and running two steamboats, in the trade,” from that place to New Orleans; and they agreed to pay the sums annexed to their names, for the aforesaid purpose.
