On October 21, 1970, the defendant was presented in the Superior Court for New Haven County at Waterbury on an information in two parts. The defendant demurred to the information on the ground that the crimes charged in part I are misdemeanors which, pursuant to the provisions of § 54-193 of the General Statutes, must be prosecuted “within one year next after the offense has been committed.” It is unquestioned that the information is dated October 21, 1970, and the crimes charged are alleged to have occurred from May 1, 1968, to and including January 14, 1969, more than one year prior to, but…
