The primary question raised by this appeal is whether the Chicago Tribune (“Tribune”) violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (“ADEA”), 29 U.S.C. §§ 621-634 (1982), in terminating Charles Dale (“Dale”), the plaintiff-appellant in this case. In addition to this claim, Dale alleges that his termination violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”), 29 U.S.C. §§ 1001-1381 (1982), and an Illinois common law duty of good faith and fair dealing.
