PALMER, J.
This appeal requires us to determine whether hospital employees who perform plumbing work for the hospital are exempt from the licensure requirements of chapter 393 of the General Statutes, § 20-330 et seq.2 We conclude that they are not exempt.
The following facts and procedural history are undisputed. On October 7,1994, the defendant plumbing and piping work board (board)3 issued complaints against the plaintiffs, Hartford Hospital (hospital) and Herve Gelinas, Charles Rowe and Arnrit Kalicharen, three of the hospital’s employees.4 Specifically, the board *711alleged that the…
