This is an appeal by defendant United Van Lines (“defendant”) from a judgment of the court of common pleas in which the jury found defendant liable under Ohio’s wrongful death statute. Judgment was entered against defendant in the amount of $633,035.48.

The present lawsuit arose out of an accident which occurred on May 8,1985 on U.S. Route 30 in Ashland County, Ohio. Phillip Tong, while driving a semitrailer through a construction zone, lost control of his vehicle and collided with an unoccupied dump truck.
