At issue in this interlocutory appeal is whether a newspaper was entitled to summary judgment in a defamation case. The former chief executive officer of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce sued the Corpus Christi Caller-Times , asserting that articles reporting he had been accused of financial improprieties were defamatory. The Newspaper filed a motion for summary judgment claiming that the allegedly defamatory articles were substantially true and that an editorial was protected opinion.
