This special proceeding is brought under G. S. N. C. 50-13, and was heard after notice by the resident judge of the district in his district. All parties were present with counsel and witnesses. Judge Erizzelle had jurisdiction. In re Cranford, 231 N.C. 91, 56 S.E. 2d 35.
It is well settled law in this jurisdiction that the mother of a bastard child is its natural guardian, and, as such, has a legal right to its custody, care and control, if a suitable person, even though others may offer more material advantages in life for the child.
