Hansen, appeals from his conviction for making false statements in matters within the jurisdiction of a department or agency of the United States in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1001 (1982), based on omissions in financial disclosure statements he filed under the Ethics in Government Act of 1978, Pub.L. No. 95-521, 92 Stat. 1824 (codified as amended in scattered sections of Titles 2, 5,18, 26, and 28 U.S.C. (1982)) (“EIGA”).
