OPINION
FREEMAN, Chief Judge.
This case arises from a collision in the Detroit River between the M/V Patignies, a Belgian freighter, and the Seventh Angel, a small pleasure craft. Taking account of only those facts which are necessary for an understanding of the present issue, it suffices to say that the administratrix of the estate of one of the passengers who died aboard the Angel *649brought suit against, among others, the owners of the two vessels. She alleges negligence as her grounds for recovery.
