On August 27, 2012, the Plaintiff Barbara Friel (the “Plaintiff’) commenced this action against the Defendants County of Nassau (the “County”) and Nassau County Police Department (the “Police Department,” and collectively, the “Defendants”) pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (“Title VII”), 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981 and 1983, the United States Constitution, the New York State Human Rights Law (the “NYSHRL”) and the New York State Constitution.
