Appellant Mona Yvette Nelson was charged with the offense of capital murder. Tex. Penal Code § 19.03. After a plea of “not guilty,” the case was tried to the court, which found Nelson guilty and sentenced her to life in prison. On appeal, Nelson contends that the trial court abused its discretion when it admitted into evidence her statements made to the police after she had asked to speak to a lawyer. Applying the standard of Rhode Island v. Innis, 446 U.S. 291, 100 S.Ct. 1682, 64 L.Ed.2d 297 (1980), we conclude that the record supports the trial court’s…
