This is an indictment against the defendant, Antonio Mariano, for manslaughter in killing William A. Mather on February 29, 1912, in North Providence, in this State. There are four counts in the indictment, the first two charging the killing by means of blows upon the head with a stone; the other two by blows upon the head “in some way and manner and by some means, instruments and weapons to the grand jurors unknown.” The case was heard on the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 18th and 19th days of March, 1912.
