SULLIVAN, Chief Judge:
On May 31, 1989, the accused was tried by a military judge sitting alone as a general court-martial at Norton Air Force Base, California. Consistent with his conditional pleas, he was found guilty of wrongful possession of methamphetamine, as well as wrongful use of marijuana and of methamphetamine, in violation of Article 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 912a. Consistent with his unconditional pleas, he was convicted of uttering four bad checks, in violation of Article 123a, UCMJ, 10 USC § 923a. He was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge,…
