Adhering to the old but almost forgotten rule of giving the defendant the benefit of reasonable doubts, I find among the unusual assortment of errors presented by *154this record much to create doubt. My constant concern here, and in all cases involving life and liberty, is that a fair trial obtain. I write my firm convictions not with the thought that it will be effective in this case, but that sometime, somewhere, the consideration of my observations may benefit some unfortunate soul in time of trouble.
