Plaintiffs, Charles and Elizabeth Cetera, filed a lawsuit alleging medical negligence against defendant, Dr. Mary DiFilippo, claiming that defendant was negligent in the diagnosis and treatment of an infection that Charles sustained following coronary bypass surgery. Following a trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of defendant and against plaintiffs. Plaintiffs filed a posttrial motion requesting a new trial, which the circuit court denied.
