— In January 1994, Darrell Cloud fatally shot Neal Summers, the teacher who had sexually abused him for over 10 years. Despite expert testimony that Cloud suffered from insane delusions at the time of the shooting, Cloud’s jury convicted him of murder in the first degree. He moved to set aside the verdict, alleging ineffective assis*609tance of counsel. After a posttrial hearing at which Cloud’s counsel was allowed to intervene as a party, the trial court found that Cloud had suffered no prejudice as a result of his counsel’s advice and denied his motion.
