Appeal from Mahaska District Court.- — Hon. B. W. Preston, Judge. Suit to foreclose certain mortgages resulted in decree as prayed. The defendants appeal.

-Plaintiff held two notes executed to it by the defendants, one for $1,500, dated April 30, 1907, and payable five years thereafter, and the other for $2,500, dated September 15, 1908, and payable six months after date. Each note wras secured by mortgage on the ten-acre homestead of defendants belonging to and in the name of Mrs. Brown. Interest on these was paid until October 30, 1910, but no part of the principal, and on September 26, 1910, the parties entered into a contract which, after reciting the parties and the execution of the above mortgages “upon said real estate claimed as a…
