This is a proceeding brought pursuant to the provisions of section 124 of the Decedent Estate Law to recover Federal and New York estate taxes apportioned against life insurance proceeds now held by two insurance companies under certain settlement option agreements for the benefit of the decedent’s incompetent daughter. The decedent, prior to her death, was the beneficiary of certain insurance policies on the life of her husband who had predeceased her.
