OPINION ON STATE’S PETITION FOR DISCRETIONARY REVIEW
WHITE, Judge.
On Sunday morning, April 6, 1986, firefighters rushed to the scene of a burning house at 1304 Wedgewood in El Paso. The house’s owner, Carol DeWees Meek, (“DeWees”) later pleaded guilty to arson in connection with the fire. Appellant, her estranged husband at the time of the fire, was convicted as a party to the offense and sentenced to seven years’ confinement in the Texas Department of Corrections.
