I. INTRODUCTION

On October 6, 2006, Plaintiff Deborah Omokehinde commenced this suit in Wayne County Circuit Court against her former employer, Defendant Detroit Board of Education, and her former supervisor, Defendant Jennifer Joubert, alleging that Defendants unlawfully retaliated against and discharged her for exercising her right of free speech as protected under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and also advancing a number of claims under Michigan law.
