“Welcome to the electronic world.” These prophetic words were uttered in 1980 by one of the attorneys arguing in United States v. Myers (In re Application of National Broadcasting Co.)—the first ease where members of the broadcast media successfully applied for judicial permission to copy and broadcast videotapes admitted into evidence in a criminal trial.
