OPINION

YÁÑEZ, Justice.

Derory Dewayne Colbert, appellant, challenges his convictions of one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault. 1 We reverse and remand.

Background

On April 18, 1999, Nicholas Melvin, Garner Jordan, Eddie Beasley, and Keith Lau-ry drove to a convenience store to buy cigars. All four individuals entered the store, but Melvin and Jordan left the store before Beasley and Laury and reentered Melvin’s vehicle.
