The relator applied to the circuit court of Wayne county to compel the respondent to discontinue the use of a certain book, known as “Readings from the Bible,” in the public schools of Detroit. The answer of respondent contains the following statement, which we quote:
“ It is not true that said book is devoted almost entirely or principally to the subject of religion, to the subject of relations of man to Almighty God, or to the subject of worshiping God, or to all these subjects, but this respondent says that said book is, for the greater part, made up of moral precepts affirming and…
