In accordance with his pleas, Appellant was convicted by a military judge at a special court-martial of unauthorized absence terminated by apprehension and five specifications of wrongful use of a controlled substance in violation of Articles 86 and 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice [hereinafter UCMJ], 10 U.S.C. §§ 886 and 912a (2000). The adjudged and approved sentence provided for a bad-conduct discharge, confinement for 72 days, and reduction to pay grade E-l.
