Reginald Reed filed a medical malpractice action against Jackson Park Hospital Foundation (JPH), Dr. Ivy Sandifer, Dr. Larry Mitchell, and Medical Emergency Care Associates (MECA) seeking damages for the loss of his right eye. Prior to trial, the trial court granted defendants’ motion in limine to bar the testimony of plaintiffs expert witness. JPH, Dr. Mitchell, and MEGA then moved for summary judgment on the basis that, without the expert witness’ testimony, plaintiff could not prove the proximate cause element of his case.
