The defendant was convicted of the crime of perjury for testifying falsely while a witness for the plaintiff in an action brought by one Charles R. Lane, under the assumed name of John L. Bock, against the City of Astoria, to recover damages for an injury alleged to have been received by him on account of a defective street.
