Together with codefendants Andrew and Thomas Kokoraleis, the defendant, Edward Spreitzer, was indicted in the circuit court of Du Page County for the knowing murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 9—1(a)(2)) and aggravated kidnapping (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 10—2(a)(3)) of Linda Sutton. The circuit court granted the defendant’s motion for a severance and accepted his waiver of a jury trial. After a bench trial, the defendant was found guilty of both charges.
