OPINION
DIETZEN, Justice.
Following a jury trial, appellant Derrick Delmar Brocks was convicted of first-degree murder for the August 17, 1996, shooting death of James Nnnn. We affirmed Brocks’s conviction on direct appeal. State v. Brocks, 587 N.W.2d 37, 39 (Minn.1998). Brocks subsequently filed a petition for postconviction relief, arguing that ineffective assistance of trial counsel deprived him of a fair trial and that he was denied effective assistance of appellate counsel. The postconviction court denied his petition without an evidentiary hearing. We affirm.
