This case revolves around a decades-old family saga that, as this Court observed in a previous Opinion, reads like the plot of one of John le Carré's Cold War novels. It opens in 1996 with the airport assassinations of Yevgenyi Scherban, a Ukrainian politician and businessman, and Nadejda Nikitina, his wife.
