Alleging the proximate cause of personal injuries sustained by him in the destruction by fire of the Portland Hotel, in which he was a guest, was the failure of the owner of the building to provide more than one fire escape, and the obstructing of that fire escape in violation of an ordinance of the city of Seattle, plaintiff instituted this action to recover from the owner of the building for the injuries suffered.
