The original plaintiff herein, Mrs. Lucy E. Longan, now deceased, when forty-two years of age, brought this suit to recover $10,000 as actual damages, and $5,000 as punitive damages, in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, on account of injuries received by her about ten p.m. on the 11th day of May, 1916, at 35th Street and Woodland Avenue, in Kansas City, Missouri, as the result of a collision between a west-bound, five-passenger Ford touring car, in which plaintiff was riding, and a north-bound street car.
