PELLEGRINI, Judge.

James K. Fordham (Fordham) appeals a decision of the Court of Common Pleas of Northampton County (trial court) affirming the Department of Transportation’s (Department) revocation of his operating privileges *870for a period of five years under Section 1542 of the Vehicle Code.1

On August 19, 1992, Fordham entered a guilty plea to the charge of driving under the influence, for which his operating privileges were suspended for a period of one year.
