This was an action of trover brought by Anderson against Coffin. The declaration charges the defendant with converting, to his own use, certain bank-notes belonging to the plaintiff of the value of 6,000 dollars. The defendant pleaded the general issue, and also the following three special pleas: First, That the defendant, as cashier of the Richmond branch bank, received the notes into the bank, on special deposite, from one Samuel W.
