While I have no quarrel with the result reached by the majority, I have chosen to present my views in a separate opinion in order to avoid the possibility of confusing my own views on the nature of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation with those of my colleagues.

The issue presented for resolution on this appeal is whether plaintiff was properly permitted to file a supplemental notice of claim nunc pro tunc to include allegations of medical malpractice arising from his care, treatment and confinement at two hospitals not mentioned in his original claim.…
